Stopped by there for breakfast this morning.
They don't open until 6am. I go there around 545am and some of the regulars were already there. I opened the door and asked if it was ok to come on in and was greeted with a big hello and yes it was fine to come in.
The lady waiting the counter took my drink order and told me they were still getting everything started in the kitchen and it'd be a few minutes.
I ordered pancakes, two scrambled eggs and pan sausage. Even though they were just getting everything up and running I still didn't have to wait long on my order.
Pancakes were really hot, fresh off the griddle. They were decent sized and pretty good. Eggs were very good. How can scrambled eggs be bad huh? I guess it's just the flat top at a restaurant that makes them taste better. They were cooked just right.
This place is always packed.
My bill came to just over $13 with a tip so that's about the same you'd pay at any of the chain places.
The food was good. Service was fast and super friendly. I'll be back to try something for lunch soon. -

Upon arriving I was greeted by friendly staff and given coffee right away! It was hot and they had sweetener and creamer within reach so I didn't have to ask. One waitress was a tad rude when I showed that yelp offered a 10% discount on my order, but once she verified with the owner she was okay (I get it, I would have done the same thing), the scrambled egg with cheese and mushrooms was cooked perfectly and the waffle I ordered was hot and fresh! They have been very attentive of me and other customers who seem to be regulars here. I love the patriotic vibe I see here. Also being that it's close to the base I can see why military would frequent this spot. I enjoyed my breakfast and the company around and would recommend this place if you're looking for a good atmosphere with great customer service and food!

This is a VERY "American" place located right outside of Barksdale Air Force Base. The atmosphere was littered with flags and bald eagles; holy crosses and other God references; Green Bay Packers memorabilia; signs with puns and sarcasm, and Fox News on the TV. So the decor may not appeal to some (my liberal side thought, "Uh, am I allowed here?"), but I think there's a lot of charm to it.
But the customer service is great, with some very sweet ladies running the show. The cafe was very clean, and they serve breakfast all day! I went for lunch and it was pretty empty inside, with mostly older generations enjoying their breakfast/lunch. Since it wasn't busy, I could sit where I want.
I ordered the cheesesteak omelette, which came with a choice of hash browns, grits, or home fries, and a biscuit or toast. I went with the hash browns and a wheat toast. Oh, and of course a side of bacon.
Honestly, for the price I expected a bit more, but I did leave satisfied enough. Everything tasted good but nothing to rant and rave about. The omelette was topped with a slice of American cheese, so it looked kind of cheap but pretty much what I might have at home. The hash browns were not fresh cut, I don't think. The bacon was cooked thoroughly and maybe even patted dry. The slices of toast were small but buttered up nicely.
In a pinch, if I have 30 minutes to eat and they're not busy, this place will do for breakfast. -

I should have posted on this 2 days ago. My son and i went there about 2 pm on like 2 oct 18. Man when you walk in there you walk into americana. All kinds of flags, and americana memorablia. Good food. We ate breakfast. The waiteress was very friendly southern lady. Only a few customers but that waa because of the time of day. I'd eat there again.

Tried a different dish today. it was not a home run. So next time back to tried and true. the salad was lettuce tomato only and my stomach acid is not crazy about tomatoes so i just had lettuce with dressing. roll was excellent. chicken fried chicken with gravy tasted very good although i was expecting a real chicken breast and not a commercial chicken patty. nevertheless it was tiny but it tasted good. i could not eat that mashed potatoes. don't know what happened there. tasted like dish liquid.
